Are you 100% sure that Heaven will be your home one day? 

 

God's Word tells us that we can KNOW for certain that we will go to Heaven when this life is over (I John 5:13). Here are four wonderful TRUTHS we need to understand from the Bible:

1. Consider God's LOVE | God Desires to Fellowship with Us

​

The Bible makes it clear that God (our Creator) loves us and desires for us to fellowship with Him. We are made in His image (likeness) and are special to God.

​

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

​​

I John 4:9 "In this was manifest the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him."

​

I John 4:16 "An we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love..."

​

The Bible further teaches that our loving God is also holy and righteous. Therefore, He cannot have fellowship with those corrupted by sin (anything we do, say, or think that goes against God's law). This great divide between God's holiness and sin creates a serious problem for each of us.

​

Psalm 145:17 "The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works."

​

Psalm 5:4 "For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee."

​

I Corinthians 6:9 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?"

​

2. Acknowledge Sin's SEPARATION | Sin Has Separated Us from God

​

We have all experienced this separation from God, because we are all sinners who have fallen short of His glory. Our sin is a debt that must be paid.

​

Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."

​

Romans 3:23a "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

​

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death..."

​

Revelation 20:14 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death..."

​

There is nothing we can do to bridge the gap our sin has created. We cannot earn salvation or pay our sin debt through our own good works (baptism, church membership, generosity, family, religion, etc.).
 

Titus 3:5 "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us..."

​

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

​

3. Understand Christ's SACRIFICE | Jesus Christ Has Made a Way for Us to Come to God the Father

​

Jesus Christ (the Son of God) came to earth, took on human flesh, and lived a sinless life. Then, in the greatest act of love ever displayed, Christ willingly laid down His life for the sins of mankind by dying on the cross. Through His death on Calvary, Jesus became our atonement (or covering) for sin.

​

Romans 5:8 "...God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

​

Romans 3:23b "...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

​

After three days in the grave, Jesus rose again, conquering death and sin forever (I Corinthians 15:55-56). Through His sacrificial payment for our sins on Calvary's cross, Christ has made a way for our fellowship with God to be restored.

​

II Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

​

I Peter 3:18 "For Christ hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit..."

​

Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

​​

4. Recognize Our RESPONSE | Salvation is Available to All Through Faith in Christ Jesus

​

We can know with certainty that we will spend eternity with God in Heaven one day if we choose to repent (turn from our way to God's way) and place our trust (total commitment) in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.

​

Mark 1:15b "...repent ye, and believe the gospel."

​

Acts 16:31a "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..."

​

According to the Scriptures,  we can receive God's free gift of salvation if we will confess to Him that we are a sinner, trust in the payment He has made on the cross, believe that He has risen from the dead, and turn to Him alone in faith for our salvation.

​

Romans 10:9-10, 13 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

​

I John 5:12-13 "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

​

II Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

​

II Corinthians 6:2b "...behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation."

​

Today, you can make the personal DECISION to turn from your sins and place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior by sincerely praying something like this from your heart:

​

"Dear Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God Who died on the cross, was buried, and rose again to pay my sin debt. I recognize that my sins have separated me from You. The best way I know how, I confess my sin and acknowledge that I cannot save myself. In faith, I turn to You alone to be my personal Savior. I ask You to save me from the penalty of my sin and give me eternal life with You in Heaven one day. From this moment on, help me to live for You and grow in my Christian life. Thank You, Lord. Amen."
