Our Pastor & Pastor's Wife

Dr. Jared Young has served as the pastor of Liberty Baptist Church since its establishment in the fall of 2020. He and his wife (Mrs. Hannah (Cape) Young) and two children (Carter and Macey) love serving the Lord together as a team and as a family. They are passionate about sharing the Gospel and working to reach the Bowling Green, Kentucky, region for Christ!

Pastor Young was born in Lewisville, Texas (a suburb of Dallas) in 1994 to parents, Troy and Jennifer Young. As a young child, his family moved to the beautiful bluegrass region of central Kentucky where Pastor Young grew up. He was raised in a Christian home and trusted Christ as his Savior at the age of 9. In 2008 (at the age of 16) he answered the call of God to become a preacher of the Gospel while under the ministry of Dr. Jeff Fugate and the Clays Mill Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. Since that time, he has been actively teaching and preaching the Word of God on a weekly basis (beginning with a small boy's Sunday school class) and working to share the Gospel of Christ as a personal soul-winner.

Growing up in a home where both parents were involved in full-time Christian ministry, Pastor Young has had the privilege as well as the practical experience of being a part of many aspects of Christian service since he was a young child. After graduating from high school, Pastor Young attended Commonwealth Baptist College in Lexington, Kentucky, where he earned his B.S. in Bible and Pastoral Theology in 2016 and his M.Ed. in Christian Education in 2017. In 2018 Pastor Young earned his D.Min. in Pastoral Theology from Baptist College of America in Kokomo, Indiana.

While receiving his education, Pastor Young remained active in the ministries of his local church (first as a teenage volunteer, then as a part-time worker, and eventually as a full-time employee). He has 14 years experience in the bus ministry (7 as a bus captain and division leader), 7 years experience working in Christian camping, 4 years experience teaching Bible and History on a college level, 2 years experience as an assistant pastor, and also experience in nursing home and addictions ministries as well.

Mrs. Hannah (Cape) Young had the privilege of growing up in a loving Christian home as well, to parents, Steve and Wanda Cape. Her father has been a pastor for over 30 years and currently serves as the pastor of the Hillside Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mrs. Young was saved at a young age, and grew up serving the Lord alongside of her family in church ministry. She became her church's full-time pianist at age 14 and has continued to serve the Lord through the avenue of music ever since. She has also served as a Sunday school teacher, a bus worker, a graphic art designer, and a church secretary. She has received musical training from Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee, as well as medical (CNA) training from MMTC in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Pastor and Mrs. Young first met as teenagers when their churches "happened" to attend the same week of camp at Circle C Baptist Ranch in Lancaster, Kentucky. They were married in June of 2018 and have been serving Jesus together as a team ever since. Their love for the Lord and for family shows through in the preaching, teaching, and spirit of the church. They believe strongly that the Christian home is the building block of society and the core of a solid Bible-believing church.
